  1. I liked recieving the emails, they just were too frequent! Perhaps if you sent them less often, it would be alright.

I liked receiving the emails, but they were a little too frequent. Maybe a monthly update would be better?
    Thanks!

      Hello!

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We’ve heard a lot of great suggestions surrounding our emails and will certainly be taking yours into consideration. Please don’t hesitate to provide us with additional feedback in the future.

    • Convert metric to U.S. measurements and vice versa

Some recipes use grams instead of cups. It would be great to click on a button and have it automagically generate the user's preferred measurement system.

I would like to plan my weekly grocery shopping using foodily recipes as the ingredients.

          Hi Michael,

Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree, a shopping list feature sounds like it would be very useful. We’ll definitely consider it! Do you have any other ideas for the site?

        • servings per recipe

I love the site, but you really need to list the number of servings each recipe makes. Most of the web sites you are getting the recipes from have this info. We could fairly easily figure out nutritional information based off of the ingredients and serving size.

          • Make fave-ing and Saving Different

I want to have an option to save a recipe without making it a fave. When I fave something it tells my friends that I like the recipe, but really I want to save recipes to try and only fave them if they turn out well.

                Hi Tobin!

Thanks for the suggestion, video would be great, step by step instruction (with a pause button!), I know that would certainly help me! My recipes rarely resemble the final photo in a book or online. Perhaps I am missing a step or two?

Do you have a favorite recipe site that currently uses video? If so, please share it with us.

Any other suggestions now that you have had the day to play?

                Thanks!

I really like your site, my wife and I are always finding, trying and bookmarking recipes because of foodily. One thing that we really find difficult is that we find recipes all over the internet through blogs and some times they are not listed on your site. So we have to keep a separate bookmark in our browser to those recipes. It would be great to have all our recipes in one spot and foodily looks like the place.

Thanks so much for this idea.

We are strong believers in supporting causes related to food. We began supporting SU2C.org even before we launched. As a company, we are still in our infancy. But as we grow, we’re excited to develop relationships with great organizations like Feeding America.

Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any other suggestions for our site!

                          • Input ingredients from your own kitchen

If you had a "what's in your kitchen" feature in which you provided a checklist organized into various categories such as "proteins" "vegetables," "spices and herbs", "oils" etc. I could check off what I have in my kitchen and then be provided with a list of recipes I can make with whatever is available.

Thanks a bunch for this idea. You’re right. While you currently can exclude certain sources — by clicking the magnifying glass icon next to the source name, or by including the word “no” in front of the source name in your query — there is not an automatic way to exclude certain sources from all of your searches.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. Removing certain sources from all searches sounds like it would be a useful feature. We’ll keep it in mind for the future.

                                • Omit mixes and prepackaged foods

I hate when I'm searching for a chocolate cake recipe and I get a result for a specific type of chocolate cake where the first ingredient is "1 box of Devil's Food cake." If I wanted to bake from a mix, I'd follow the recipe on the box! Or a dip recipe which includes "Onion soup mix." Can you create a feature to omit these results?

                                    Hi Kate,

Thanks a bunch for your note! A feature that omits mixes and prepackaged foods sounds like it’d be very useful. We’ll share you feedback with the team and keep this in mind.

In the meantime, try typing the words, “mix” or “box” into the without box to exclude recipes with those kinds of prepackaged ingredients. Check out: http://foodily.com/s/chocolate-cake-without-mix Does that work?

Thanks again, and please don’t hesitate to share any other ideas you have for the site!

                                      Hi Nathaniel,

                                      Thanks for your note.

We have great respect for recipe content creators. As a search engine, it is our goal to send as much qualified traffic as we can to recipe websites. We’ll continue to introduce new features to optimize that effort, and we work very closely with recipe publishers to ensure they are happy with our treatment of their content.

As an example, we recently updated the print button on Foodily so that it clearly tells users they need to go to the original site to print, and it acts as a hot link to the source website.

Foodily only shows a small portion of the recipe instructions — including on pages with the /r/ url. In order to view the complete recipe instructions, users must visit the original recipe website. We will continue to evolve our experience by working with recipe publishers on how we can…

                                    • Let us filter results by those with photos

Not all cooks like to use recipes without photos. It helps to see what the end result of a dish looks. A Show only recipes with photos would be great.

                                        Hi Eden!

Thanks for the suggestion. I am a visual person as well and I like to see what the recipe will look like after completion. (A picture says a thousand words!) Reading ingredients and instructions don’t do much for me.

Did you know you can click on the “X” in the upper right hand corner of the recipe to REMOVE IT. This may be a temporary fix to our solution.

                                        Are you enjoying your search?

                                        Thanks!

Hi, I would like to suggest that you make the 'menus' easier to create, I have only been using the site for a day or so, but I love it. I just do what I suspect many other users do and skim through and favorite things and then I want to arrange them into categories later on, but I dont seem to be able to do that easily enough or if you can do it, it needs to be made clearer where to do it, because its not . Atleast not obviously. But then again I am a ml\ale and…

This feedback made my day. We really appreciate your reaching out. While we have a way to add a recipe to a menu – we sure haven’t made it easy! We think we can do much better.

Keep the feedback coming our way because sliced bread is a really really good thing strive for.

                                          Hey y'all,

How about creating an inventory list that we can use to keep track of what's on hand in our kitchens? In my mind, it would track ingredients manually (aka, the user could input/delete them); by what has been purchased/checked off at the grocery store (if you guys do indeed create a grocery list feature); and by what has been used in completed recipes. It could even have a feature where your rotten ingredients are tracked so that a user can see how much of their food goes to waste.

The inventory would sync up with the grocery list…
