Convert metric to U.S. measurements and vice versa
Some recipes use grams instead of cups. It would be great to click on a button and have it automagically generate the user's preferred measurement system.

Do not ever under any circumstances send an unsolicited email.
Do not ever under any circumstances send an unsolicited email. This is, I believe, the second time I have unsubscribed from Foodily mail. Before I unsubscribe a third time I'll cancel the ap on FB and forget about the sigte.
I DO NOT WANT EMAIL FROM YOU, EVER. FULL STOP.
59 votesHello David -
Please accept our apologies for this frustrating issue. I do see that you emailed us all the way back in September 2011. Thank you for sticking with us! Unfortunately we have a bug that occurs when we release new types of Newsletter/Weekly Update emails. Existing accounts that unsubscribed from other emails aren’t automatically unsubscribed from these new emails. We are very sorry for this and have now changed your settings to not receive any emails.
Please contact us if you encounter any other issues or have feedback. It’s incredibly helpful to hear from users because often times they help us identify problems.
Thank you,

Create a shopping list that we can print from different menus
I would like to plan my weekly grocery shopping using foodily recipes as the ingredients.
57 votesHi Michael,
Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree, a shopping list feature sounds like it would be very useful. We’ll definitely consider it! Do you have any other ideas for the site?

I don't need a new food newsletter
I use foodily on a need basis, not as something I want to be constantly involved.
I understand that others' behaviour may vary, but personally I only access foodily when I need inspiration, or to check a previously saved recipe.
Getting a weekly newsletter with new recipes would be a great idea for some, and definitely is a nice to have for those who opt in. But automatically sending it to all your members, even if the T&Cs we accepted allow it, it's not a good idea. You should look after your members' inbox, if you want them to be…

Thank you for reaching out with your feedback. We really appreciate hearing from Foodily users. We’ve heard a lot of feedback around our weekly newsletter and are taking it all into consideration. I’ll pass your message along to our team. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with more suggestions in the future!Sami

I Wan an Android App ! Why is it always Iphone / Ipad ?????
That's it, just the same, but for Android. Nothing special to add here. I don't want my laptop in my Kitchen.
37 votesThank you for reaching out. Excited to say we’re actively working to release an Android app! We’ll make sure to be in touch as soon as it’s available.

I liked recieving the emails, they just were too frequent! Perhaps if you sent them less often, it would be alright.
I liked receiving the emails, but they were a little too frequent. Maybe a monthly update would be better?

At this point in time users can’t add their own recipes to Foodily. We’re always accepting recipe blogs to be added to our index though and we’re actively working on a set of tools to make the addition of recipes faster. Are you a blogger or do you have recipes online that you’d like to see on Foodily? If so, please send us your URL and we will add it to our indexing queue.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

servings per recipe
I love the site, but you really need to list the number of servings each recipe makes. Most of the web sites you are getting the recipes from have this info. We could fairly easily figure out nutritional information based off of the ingredients and serving size.

Make fave-ing and Saving Different
I want to have an option to save a recipe without making it a fave. When I fave something it tells my friends that I like the recipe, but really I want to save recipes to try and only fave them if they turn out well.
25 votesThank you so much for the feedback! I certainly understand why you’d like to differentiate saved recipes from favorites. I’ve shared your feedback with the team and we’ll be taking it into consideration.
Happy cooking!

Hi Tobin!
Thanks for the suggestion, video would be great, step by step instruction (with a pause button!), I know that would certainly help me! My recipes rarely resemble the final photo in a book or online. Perhaps I am missing a step or two?
Do you have a favorite recipe site that currently uses video? If so, please share it with us.
Any other suggestions now that you have had the day to play?
Thanks!

Integrate Foodily with Evernote!
It would be great to add Foodily recipes directly to evernote notebooks. That way people who wish to access their recipes can do so on mobile devices like the iPhone.
20 votesHey Tobin!
Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree, it’d be great to have an easy way to access recipes on mobile devices, such as an app or Evernote integration. We’re looking into it!
In the meantime, you can visit foodily.com in the browser of your mobile device, such as a smart phone, or iPad. Have you tried this out yet?
Hope you enjoy the site, and please continue to let us know what you think!

Ability to add links to sites not currently aggregated by foodily
I really like your site, my wife and I are always finding, trying and bookmarking recipes because of foodily. One thing that we really find difficult is that we find recipes all over the internet through blogs and some times they are not listed on your site. So we have to keep a separate bookmark in our browser to those recipes. It would be great to have all our recipes in one spot and foodily looks like the place.
A great feature for both your users and your website would be the ability to add a link to save a…
20 votesThanks a bunch for this idea. A feature allowing users to save recipes not currently indexed by Foodily sounds very useful. We’ll share your feedback with the team and keep this in mind.
Glad you’re enjoying Foodily, and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other feedback or suggestions.

Better iPad support
Foodily is somewhat awkward to use on touch-screen devices. The iPad would seem to be the perfect platform, because it is so convenient in the kitchen, and easy to take on shopping trips. But navigating Foodily pages is frustrating on this device.
19 votesHi Dave,
Thanks a bunch for letting us know it was hard to use Foodily on the iPad. We’ve shared your feedback with the team, and will keep this in mind for the future.
Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any other ideas!

Can I add my own recipe to Foodily?
Am I able to post/add my own recipe to Foodily? I made my own recipe and I want to share it on Foodily!!!
19 votesHello Julia -
Thank you for reaching out in regards to seeing your recipe on Foodily. I’ve looked into this and the Community recipe section of Epicurious is not one that we index at this time. We’re glad you brought this to our attention and we will look into incorporating those recipes. We love that you want to share your recipe on Foodily and we’re sorry that you can’t currently do that. We’ll make sure to keep you updated if that section of Epicurious becomes available. Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any other thoughts for how we can improve!

Translate Recipe details
Language translations will add more value to many people around the world. Maybe Google translate API or any proprietary language translations tools will add more value
16 votesHi Prem!
Thanks for the great suggestion! We agree language translation would add more value and hope to explore that in the future.
Do you have any other suggestions for FOODILY?

Annotate recipes
Annotate recipes with user modifications, with the annotation showing up at the relevant point in the recipe, e.g. increasing the amount of spice, omitting ingredient, longer cooking time, etc.
16 votesHi tempfree,
Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree — it’d be awesome to annotate recipes with additional instructions. We’ll keep this in mind for the future!
Do you have any other ideas about how we can improve Foodily?
Thanks again for your suggestion!

Save preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, without dairy
Save preferences so they are automatically included in the search for example if you're vegetarian you can search "pasta" and only vegetarian options come up every time you search
16 votesThanks a bunch for this idea. Saving preferences sounds like a very useful feature. We’ll keep this in mind! Other than “vegetarian,” “vegan,” and “without dairy,” are there other search criteria you’d be interested in filtering by?
Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any other suggestions!

Corporate social responsibility
Partner with Feeding America. Your site would connect well with their cause and offer great exposure for both parties. Getting on board with a non-profit is extremely beneficial for rounding your brand and giving back to those in need.
14 votesThanks so much for this idea.
We are strong believers in supporting causes related to food. We began supporting SU2C.org even before we launched. As a company, we are still in our infancy. But as we grow, we’re excited to develop relationships with great organizations like Feeding America.
Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any other suggestions for our site!

Input ingredients from your own kitchen
If you had a "what's in your kitchen" feature in which you provided a checklist organized into various categories such as "proteins" "vegetables," "spices and herbs", "oils" etc. I could check off what I have in my kitchen and then be provided with a list of recipes I can make with whatever is available.
13 votesHi Ben,
Thanks a bunch for this suggestion. A “what’s in your kitchen” checklist sounds like a useful feature. We’ll keep this in mind for the future!
Also, just in case you hadn’t already discovered this, you can type a list of ingredients into the search box to find recipes calling for all those ingredients. For example, check out: http://foodily.com/s/pasta-zucchini-chicken
Thanks again for this feedback, and please let us know if you have any other ideas!
