Convert metric to U.S. measurements and vice versa
Some recipes use grams instead of cups. It would be great to click on a button and have it automagically generate the user's preferred measurement system.

Create a shopping list that we can print from different menus
I would like to plan my weekly grocery shopping using foodily recipes as the ingredients.

Hi Michael,
Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree, a shopping list feature sounds like it would be very useful. We’ll definitely consider it! Do you have any other ideas for the site?

servings per recipe
I love the site, but you really need to list the number of servings each recipe makes. Most of the web sites you are getting the recipes from have this info. We could fairly easily figure out nutritional information based off of the ingredients and serving size.

Integrate Foodily with Evernote!
It would be great to add Foodily recipes directly to evernote notebooks. That way people who wish to access their recipes can do so on mobile devices like the iPhone.

Hey Tobin!
Thanks a bunch for this idea. We agree, it’d be great to have an easy way to access recipes on mobile devices, such as an app or Evernote integration. We’re looking into it!
In the meantime, you can visit foodily.com in the browser of your mobile device, such as a smart phone, or iPad. Have you tried this out yet?
Hope you enjoy the site, and please continue to let us know what you think!

Hi Tobin!
Thanks for the suggestion, video would be great, step by step instruction (with a pause button!), I know that would certainly help me! My recipes rarely resemble the final photo in a book or online. Perhaps I am missing a step or two?
Do you have a favorite recipe site that currently uses video? If so, please share it with us.
Any other suggestions now that you have had the day to play?
Thanks!

Translate Recipe details
Language translations will add more value to many people around the world. Maybe Google translate API or any proprietary language translations tools will add more value

Make fave-ing and Saving Different
I want to have an option to save a recipe without making it a fave. When I fave something it tells my friends that I like the recipe, but really I want to save recipes to try and only fave them if they turn out well.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I certainly understand why you’d like to differentiate saved recipes from favorites. I’ve shared your feedback with the team and we’ll be taking it into consideration.

i want to delete certain websites from my results permanently
I see I have an account which is cool so can't you add a preference to permantly exclude certain website there? i want my results to never include cooks.com and food.com.

Thanks a bunch for this idea. You’re right. While you currently can exclude certain sources — by clicking the magnifying glass icon next to the source name, or by including the word “no” in front of the source name in your query — there is not an automatic way to exclude certain sources from all of your searches.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. Removing certain sources from all searches sounds like it would be a useful feature. We’ll keep it in mind for the future.
Do you have any other ideas for the site?

Better iPad support
Foodily is somewhat awkward to use on touch-screen devices. The iPad would seem to be the perfect platform, because it is so convenient in the kitchen, and easy to take on shopping trips. But navigating Foodily pages is frustrating on this device.

Ability to add links to sites not currently aggregated by foodily
I really like your site, my wife and I are always finding, trying and bookmarking recipes because of foodily. One thing that we really find difficult is that we find recipes all over the internet through blogs and some times they are not listed on your site. So we have to keep a separate bookmark in our browser to those recipes. It would be great to have all our recipes in one spot and foodily looks like the place.
A great feature for both your users and your website would be the ability to add a link to save a… more

Annotate recipes
Annotate recipes with user modifications, with the annotation showing up at the relevant point in the recipe, e.g. increasing the amount of spice, omitting ingredient, longer cooking time, etc.

Corporate social responsibility
Partner with Feeding America. Your site would connect well with their cause and offer great exposure for both parties. Getting on board with a non-profit is extremely beneficial for rounding your brand and giving back to those in need.

We are strong believers in supporting causes related to food. We began supporting SU2C.org even before we launched. As a company, we are still in our infancy. But as we grow, we’re excited to develop relationships with great organizations like Feeding America.

Input ingredients from your own kitchen
If you had a "what's in your kitchen" feature in which you provided a checklist organized into various categories such as "proteins" "vegetables," "spices and herbs", "oils" etc. I could check off what I have in my kitchen and then be provided with a list of recipes I can make with whatever is available.

Hi Ben,
Thanks a bunch for this suggestion. A “what’s in your kitchen” checklist sounds like a useful feature. We’ll keep this in mind for the future!
Also, just in case you hadn’t already discovered this, you can type a list of ingredients into the search box to find recipes calling for all those ingredients. For example, check out: http://foodily.com/s/pasta-zucchini-chicken
Thanks again for this feedback, and please let us know if you have any other ideas!

At this point in time users can’t add their own recipes to Foodily. We’re always accepting recipe blogs to be added to our index though and we’re actively working on a set of tools to make the addition of recipes faster. Are you a blogger or do you have recipes online that you’d like to see on Foodily? If so, please send us your URL and we will add it to our indexing queue.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

Omit mixes and prepackaged foods
I hate when I'm searching for a chocolate cake recipe and I get a result for a specific type of chocolate cake where the first ingredient is "1 box of Devil's Food cake." If I wanted to bake from a mix, I'd follow the recipe on the box! Or a dip recipe which includes "Onion soup mix." Can you create a feature to omit these results?

Hi Kate,
Thanks a bunch for your note! A feature that omits mixes and prepackaged foods sounds like it’d be very useful. We’ll share you feedback with the team and keep this in mind.
In the meantime, try typing the words, “mix” or “box” into the without box to exclude recipes with those kinds of prepackaged ingredients. Check out: http://foodily.com/s/chocolate-cake-without-mix Does that work?
Thanks again, and please don’t hesitate to share any other ideas you have for the site!

Firefox 4 - UI Issues
I can't scroll horizontally using buttons or scroll bar. Using Firefox 4.
Also, I am trying to exclude epicurious.com, and my search is modified but I still see epicurious recipes. This may be another UI issue but regardless it's frustrating since I exerted an additional click and I still see that site in my results.

(So as it turns out I answer these!) Thanks a bunch for letting us know about these issues with scrolling and excluding recipes from a certain source.
I shared your feedback with one of our developers. He said that unfortunately the issue is we don’t support Firefox 4 beta at this time. Does the site work for you in other browsers?
